Easy Homemade Red Sauce

I can’t believe I am this late to the table!  I am sure everyone else in the world is making their own red sauce, but I have always been lazy and poured it out of a jar.  I actually made my own super easy homemade red sauce and it turned out delicious!  I just threw a bunch of stuff together and it turned out very tasty!  (And it is healthier than store bought too.)

Easy Homemade Red Sauce

– 28 oz organic crush tomato can
– 6 oz tomato paste can
– 2 tablespoon olive oil
– 1 diced orange pepper
– 1 diced yellow pepper
– 3 minced garlic cloves
– 1/2 diced yellow onion
– 2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
– Salt and pepper to taste

Place all ingredients into a large pot, turn to medium heat to bring up to a rapid simmer, then turn down to medium-low and simmer for 35-45 minutes, stirring often.

Keeps for several days in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Use as pasta sauce, or in soup, or with a chicken or quinoa dish. There’s lots of possibilities!

Health Benefits

Tomatoes have numerous health benefits including being a good source of vitamins, heart healthy, as well as being good for your vision, digestion, and skin. Peppers are also a good source of vitamins as well as being anti-inflammatory.

Most store bought red sauces contain a lot of unhealthy added ingredients, so this easy homemade red sauce tastes good and is better for you!

Bon appetit!
